Fiduciary Rule vs. Success

By | Education, Finance, Mindset, Motivation, Planning, Retirement, Strategy, Technology | No Comments

So we are the in midst of the Fiduciary Rule implementation or delay — either way it has been the talk of the industry for several months now only to recently hear about the potential uncertainty of its future altogether. All this talk has me thinking they are missing the big focus that should be in their (law makers) sights. What impact will this rule have on the success of investors and retirement plan participants? Will a reduction of fees close the savings gap? I have to laugh at the battles that our law makers are addressing while passing on the bigger issues that will actually help solve the true problems. That’s what this blog post is all about.

Pursuing dreams

By | Dreams, Finance, Mindset, Motivation, Planning, Retirement | No Comments

So its been an interesting few weeks both in my client interactions and my travels or personal pursuits. One major theme is in motion. I’m seeing clients make progress towards dreams and openly sharing them with me. It doesn’t get any better than this. It gets me all fired up when I get to see them taking action on commitments to dreams they have. From Beth’s new floors in her home and seeing all the MLB ballparks, to clients getting married, to clients getting engaged, to clients having babies, to clients retiring, to buying or starting new businesses, to selling their businesses and the list goes on. Everyone has their own position and phase but one common theme has continued to show up; clients are pursuing dreams.

I’m constantly having conversations with clients about what their BIG dreams are and what they are making progress on. I think this is where the rubber meets the road with all that fiscal saving — the pursuit of your BIG dreams! So…what dreams are you pursuing? I would love to hear about what you’re working on or pursuing this year!

Penrose Brewing / Eric Hobbs

By | Dreams, Motivation | No Comments

My best days are spent working with clients and helping them make progress on their big dreams. Period. Put those things together and I’m at my absolute nirvana! Well…the other day I got to spend time with one of the most driven entrepreneurs and got to spend some time with him talking about his progress. Lets just say it hasn’t been a straight line for Eric Hobbs, Tom Korder, and the rest of the team at Penrose Brewing but they are charging forward. Every time I check in with these guys something new is on the horizon and they continue to raise the bar by creating a unique experience for those enjoying the newest offering. Take a minute and familiarize yourself with the history of Penrose. Even better is swing by the Tap Room sometime to take in the full experience. A conversation with Tom and Eric will have you overflowing with passion for great beer and maybe pursuing a big dream. Cheers!

Losing 38lbs in 90 days

By | Dreams, Motivation | One Comment

I don’t often get to share my dreams with others as I’m focused on my clients. But I thought the recent pursuit of a big dream for me was worth sharing. So…he’s a video on how I lost 38 lbs in 90 days and what I did to make this progress. Skinniest I have been in over 8 years. It’s all about the support group on this one. It’s nearly impossible for the accomplishment of big dreams to happen without an amazing support group! I’m blessed to have a bunch of help on this one. From friends, family, fiance to specialists, coaches, and training. Here’s how it all came together.

Offense vs. Defense

While watching some of the NCAA March Madness games I noticed some fascinating action that really gave me a strong take away I wanted to share. Specifically in the Northern Iowa vs. Texas A&M game. I’m not a big basketball guy but I get into the NCAA tourney with all the carnage that goes on with major upsets, change in leads, Cinderella stories, new heroes are born, heartbreak, and the list goes on of great stories that come out of the month of March! But this time it was like something I have never seen. A team destined for what looked like victory with only 35 seconds remaining and a 12 point lead. An 8 point lead with only 21 seconds left. It really was incredible. That’s what this video blog is all about.

Super Roth

By | Education, Finance, Planning, Retirement, Strategy | No Comments

After last week’s conversation about Maxing Out your contributions to meet the IRS guidelines I got a lot of questions about how to get to $53K and $59K (for those age 50 and over), so here’s how to get to the higher limit. I don’t typically like to get this technical but it’s kept relatively simple given the subject matter.

I’m not sure if the term “Super Roth” has been formally coined but this would be fitting if that’s the case.

This is something that really fits those looking to play catch up or super charge their accumulation plan.

Maxing Out

By | Finance, Planning, Retirement, Strategy | No Comments

Most of the time when we talk about this subject it revolves around Portillo’s and taking down an Italian beef, cheese fries and a chocolate cake shake (I’m sure many of you can relate). But today this is actually about maximizing the IRS contribution limits and the long term impact they can have towards your planning future.

Many of my clients are following this planning structure but many of you have not seen the long term impact of the path toward ‘maxing out’.

DreamNumber Tour

So…I’m a follower of Peter Diamandis and pay attention to the projects he’s constantly working on including Singularity University that he co-founded years ago. Their mission is to educate, inspire and empower leaders to apply exponential technologies to address humanity’s grand challenges. Remember my blog on the 95% retirement failure rate that American’s face today? Well…I created DreamNumber to address that grand challenge facing humanity today. Clearly at 95% failure there’s room for technology to make an improvement and show you exactly ‘How Much’, Save It, and Make Progress! I had to make this video to apply for their program in the Spring of 2016 because I want to get the ‘How Much’ information out in front of the entire population. We face BIG challenges ahead without this information. In this video I take you through my big vision and where my greatest passion lies with my work on DreamNumber! At least for today because I will be making progress with it tomorrow.
